Canvas Integration Settings allow your institution to connect openSIS with your own Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Once configured, openSIS can securely communicate with your Canvas instance using a Canvas Access Token.

Important
Canvas integration only works if your Canvas LMS is hosted online and accessible over the internet.
Local or offline Canvas installations that are not publicly accessible cannot be connected to openSIS.
Before configuring the integration, make sure you have:

The page displays four configuration steps:
Before connecting Canvas, you must generate an Access Token from your Canvas instance.
Under the Instruction section:
This token authorizes openSIS to securely communicate with your Canvas server.
After obtaining the Access Token, complete the Configuration section.
Enter the following information:
Provide the complete URL of your Canvas instance.
Paste the Access Token generated from Canvas.
The token is securely stored and used for authenticated communication with Canvas.
After entering both values:
openSIS attempts to establish a secure connection with your Canvas LMS.
The Connection Status field displays the result.
Possible outcomes include:
If the connection is successful, your Canvas instance is now linked with openSIS.
Once the connection is verified:
Enable the Synchronization toggle.
This allows openSIS to communicate with the connected Canvas LMS for supported integration features.
If Synchronization is disabled, the connection remains saved but data synchronization will not occur.
The Canvas Integration page also provides quick access to support resources.
Available options include:
If you do not currently have a Canvas LMS, you can contact the openSIS team for assistance with Canvas hosting and deployment.
Verify that:
Generate a new Access Token from Canvas and update it in openSIS.
If your Canvas server is hosted only on a local network and cannot be accessed from the internet, the integration will not work.
The Canvas instance must be reachable by the openSIS server.
