Course Manager

Overview

The Course Manager is the central location for creating and managing courses and course sections in openSIS. It allows administrators to organize courses by subject, program, and grade level, configure course information, and create course sections for scheduling students and teachers.

From the Course Manager, you can search for courses, filter the course list, view course details, manage subjects and programs, and access course sections.


Access Course Manager

  1. Log in to openSIS.
  2. Click Courses > Course Manager.

The Course Manager page opens, displaying the available courses and their details.


Course Manager Features

The Course Manager provides the following features:

  • Search Courses – Search for a course by entering its title in the search box.
  • Subject Filter – Display courses for a selected subject.
  • Program Filter – Filter courses by academic program.
  • Grade Level Filter – View courses for a selected grade level.
  • Manage Subjects – Add, edit, or delete subjects available for course creation.
  • Manage Programs – Add, edit, or delete academic programs.
  • Course List – Displays all available courses along with their associated subject and the number of course sections.
  • Course Details – View detailed information about the selected course, including course code, grade level, subject, program, credit hours, prerequisites, standards, description, and learning objectives.
  • Add New Course – Create a new course.
  • Course Actions – Edit or delete an existing course.
  • Add New Course Section – Create one or more sections for the selected course.
  • Course Sections – View and manage the sections associated with a course.

Manage Subjects and Programs

The Manage Subjects and Manage Programs options allow administrators to maintain the lists available in the Subject and Program fields during course creation.

From these dialogs, you can:

  • Add a new subject or program.
  • Edit an existing subject or program.
  • Delete a subject or program that is no longer required.

View Course Details

Selecting a course displays its information in the details pane, including:

  • Course title
  • Short name or course code
  • Grade level
  • Subject
  • Program
  • Credit hours
  • Pre-requisite courses
  • Academic standards
  • Description
  • Learning objectives

Important Notes

  • Subjects and programs should be created before adding courses that require them.
  • Each course can have one or more course sections.
  • Course sections are used for scheduling students, teachers, and classrooms.
  • Selecting a course displays its associated course sections for further management.
