Course Sections

Overview

A Course Section represents an individual offering of a course during a specific marking period or date range. Each course can have one or more sections, allowing institutions to schedule multiple classes for the same course with different teachers, rooms, schedules, or student groups.

The Course Sections page allows administrators to view section details, monitor enrollment, manage assigned teachers, and update or remove existing course sections.


Access Course Sections

  1. Go to Courses > Course Manager.
  2. Select a course from the course list.
  3. Click the Sections link displayed beside the course.

The Course Sections page opens, displaying all sections associated with the selected course.


Course Sections Features

The Course Sections page provides the following features:

  • Search Course Sections – Search for a section by its name.
  • Show Inactives – Display inactive course sections.
  • Show All Terms – Display course sections from all marking periods.
  • Add New Course Section – Create a new section for the selected course.
  • Course Section List – Displays all sections associated with the selected course.
  • Section Status – Indicates whether a course section is active or inactive.
  • Section Capacity – Displays the number of enrolled students and available seats.
  • Section Actions – Edit or delete a course section.

View Course Section Details

Selecting a course section displays detailed information, including:

  • Course Section Name
  • Calendar
  • Grade Scale
  • Credit Hours
  • Attendance Category
  • Seat Capacity
  • Available Seats
  • Course Options
  • Duration
  • Schedule Information

Additional tabs provide:

  • Scheduled Students – View students enrolled in the course section.
  • Scheduled Teachers – View teachers assigned to the course section.

Edit a Course Section

  1. Go to Courses > Course Manager.
  2. Open the required course.
  3. Select the course section.
  4. Click the More Options (⋮) icon.
  5. Select Edit Item.
  6. Update the required information.
  7. Click Submit.

Delete a Course Section

  1. Open the required course section.
  2. Click the More Options (⋮) icon.
  3. Select Delete Item.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

The course section is removed from the selected course.


Important Notes

  • A course can contain multiple course sections.
  • Each course section maintains its own schedule, teachers, students, and enrollment capacity.
  • Active and inactive sections can be viewed using the available filters.
  • Review scheduled students and teachers before deleting a course section to avoid disrupting scheduling.
