Generate Advanced Student Reports

Overview

The Advanced Student Report allows administrators to create customized student reports by selecting specific students and choosing exactly which information to include. This flexible reporting tool helps schools generate reports tailored to administrative, academic, compliance, or operational requirements without displaying unnecessary data.

Unlike standard reports, the Advanced Student Report lets you control both the students included in the report and the data fields displayed.

Generate an Advanced Student Report

Step 1: Select Students

When the Advanced Report page opens, the first step is Select Student(s).

  1. Search for students using the Search box.
  2. Click Advanced Search to locate students using additional search criteria.
  3. Select one or more students using the checkboxes beside their names.
  4. Click Select Fields to continue.

Step 2: Choose Report Fields

The Select Fields page displays all available student information organized into categories.

Examples of available field groups include:

Identification Information

  • Full Name
  • Student ID
  • District ID
  • State ID
  • Alternate ID
  • Roll Number
  • Admission Number
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Preferred Name
  • Salutation

Demographic Information

  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Ethnicity
  • Race
  • Marital Status
  • Country of Birth
  • First, Second, and Third Languages

Address & Contact

  • Student Home Address
  • Full Home Address
  • Contact details

Additional categories may also be available depending on your system configuration.

Use the toggle beside each field to include or exclude it from the report.


Step 3: Review Selected Fields

As you enable fields, they appear in the Selected Fields panel on the right side of the page.

This panel displays the order in which the columns will appear in the generated report, allowing you to review your selections before creating the report.


Step 4: Generate the Report

Click Generate Report.

openSIS generates a customized report containing only the selected students and the fields you chose.

The report is displayed on-screen for review.


Review the Generated Report

After the report is generated, you can:

  • Review the selected student information.
  • Search within the report.
  • Filter displayed records.
  • Export the report to Microsoft Excel.
  • Navigate through multiple pages of results when applicable.

Only the fields selected during report creation are displayed as report columns.


Tips

  • Use Advanced Search when generating reports for specific groups of students.
  • Include only the fields required for your purpose to create a cleaner report.
  • Review the Selected Fields panel before generating the report.
  • Export reports to Excel for additional analysis or record keeping.

Expected Result

A customized student report is generated containing only the selected students and the information fields chosen by the administrator. The report can be viewed, filtered, or exported for further use.
