Generate Progress Reports in openSIS
Overview
The Progress Reports module allows teachers to generate detailed academic reports for selected students based on assignments, grading criteria, and selected filters.
You can:
- Filter students
- Customize report data
- Include/exclude specific grading elements
- Generate reports for multiple students at once
How to Access
Go to:
Grades → Progress Reports
Step 1: Filter Data
Dropdown Filters
Subject
- Filters data by subject
- Example: Math, Science
Course
- Filters by specific course
Course Section
Click Search after selecting filters
Step 2: Select Date (Marking Period)
Select Date Dropdown
Choose grading period
- Example: Progress Period 1, Q1, Semester

This determines which grades are included in the report
This is the most important section.
Assigned Date (Toggle)
- ON → Includes assignments based on assigned date
- OFF → Assigned date is ignored

Use when you want to filter assignments by when they were given
Exclude Exempted Assignments (Toggle)
- ON → Removes assignments marked as exempted
- OFF → Includes all assignments

Helps avoid skewed grading data
Due Date (Toggle)
- ON → Filters assignments based on due date
- OFF → Due date is ignored

Useful when grading is tied to submission deadlines
Exclude Not Graded (Toggle)
- ON → Excludes assignments that are not graded
- OFF → Includes all assignments

Prevents incomplete grading from affecting reports
Step 4: Report Type Selection
Includes:
- Individual assignments
- Scores
- Detailed breakdown

Best for detailed analysis
Includes:
- Overall totals
- Final grades

Best for summary reports
Step 5: Search & Advanced Search

- Quickly find students by name
⚙️ Advanced Search
- Opens additional filtering options
- Helps refine student selection
Step 6: Select Students
- Use checkboxes to select students
Select:
- Individual students
- Multiple students

You must select students to generate reports
Step 7: Generate Progress Reports
Once students are selected:
Generate reports for:
- Single student
- Multiple students (bulk generation)
Export Option
- Click Excel icon to export data
Important Notes
Reports depend on:
- Assignment data
- Grading completion
- Missing grades may affect results
- Filters must be applied correctly before generation
Limitations
- Cannot edit grades from this screen
- Cannot create assignments here
- Only generates reports based on existing data
Best Practices
- Always select correct marking period
- Use Exclude Not Graded for accurate reports
- Use Assignment Details for parent/student sharing
- Double-check filters before generating reports
