How to Use the Communication Module in the Parent Portal

Overview

The Communication module in the Parent Portal allows parents to stay connected with the school by viewing messages, sending messages, and accessing SMS communication (if enabled). This feature helps parents receive important updates such as billing notices, school announcements, and direct messages from staff.

NotesNote: This feature is available only if enabled by your school administrator.

Accessing Communication

  1. Log in to the Parent Portal
  2. From the left menu, click Communication
  3. You will see the following tabs:
    • Inbox
    • Sent
    • SMS (if enabled)

Inbox

The Inbox displays all messages received from the school.

What you can do:

  • View messages sent by teachers, administrators, or system notifications
  • See sender name, subject, and timestamp
  • Click on any message to read its full content

Sent

The Sent tab contains all messages you have sent.

What you can do:

  • Review previously sent messages
  • Track communication history

SMS (If enabled)

The SMS section shows text-based communication.

What you can do:

  • View SMS messages sent by the school
  • Track important alerts such as reminders or urgent updates

Composing a Message

To send a new message:

  1. Click Compose
  2. Fill in the following details:
    • To: Select recipient(s)
    • CC/BCC (optional)
    • Subject
    • Message Body
  3. Click Submit to send the message

AI-Powered Features

The Communication module includes AI-assisted tools to improve message quality and accessibility.

1. AI Writing Assistant

  • Use “Help me write (Alt + H)” to generate or refine message content
  • Helps draft clear and professional communication

2. Automatic Translation

  • Messages can be automatically translated based on the recipient’s preferred language
  • Alternatively, you can manually select a language

  • Parents can communicate directly with school staff (if permissions are enabled)
  • Message availability and features depend on school configuration
  • SMS functionality depends on the school’s communication setup
