Import Google Classroom Grades into openSIS

Overview

After assignments and grades are completed in Google Classroom, the final step is to fetch those grades into openSIS. This process pulls the overall grade from Google Classroom and makes it available in openSIS for generating report cards and transcripts.

This article explains where and how to fetch Google Classroom grades and why submitting the grades in openSIS is mandatory.

Notes

This article applies only after:

  • Google Classroom integration is completed

  • Courses and users are synchronized

  • Assignments and grades are finalized in Google Classroom



Where Google Classroom Grades Are Fetched in openSIS

Google Classroom grades are fetched from the Final Grade Details screen in openSIS.

  1. Navigate to Grades → Final Grades.

  2. Select the required Student.

  3. The Final Grade Details screen opens.

This screen allows teachers and administrators to pull grades from connected learning platforms.


Fetching Grades from Google Classroom

Steps to Fetch Google Classroom Grades

  1. On the Final Grade Details screen, click Get Google Classroom Grades.

  2. Select:

    • Course Section

    • Marking Period

  3. openSIS fetches the Overall Grade from Google Classroom for each student.

  4. Review the fetched grades.

  5. Click Submit to save the grades in openSIS.

Alert
Clicking Submit is mandatory.
Grades are not stored in openSIS until submission is completed.


What Data Is Pulled from Google Classroom

  • The Overall Grade calculated in Google Classroom

  • Grades only for:

    • The selected course section

    • The selected marking period

Individual assignment scores are managed in Google Classroom and are not edited from openSIS.


Important Requirement: Grades Must Be Returned in Google Classroom

Before fetching grades:

  • Teachers must return assignments in Google Classroom.

  • Grades left in Draft status are not available for synchronization.

Alert
Always click “Return all” in Google Classroom after grading.
Draft grades will not appear in openSIS.


Submitting Grades in openSIS

After grades are fetched:

  • Review percentages and letter grades (if applicable)

  • Add predefined or teacher comments if required

  • Click Submit

Only submitted grades are used for academic records.


Report Card and Transcript Generation

Once Google Classroom grades are:

  • Fetched

  • Reviewed

  • Submitted

They become available for:

  • Report Card generation

  • Transcript generation

Without completing this step, report cards and transcripts cannot be generated correctly.


Common Issues and Checks

If grades do not appear:

  • Ensure assignments are returned in Google Classroom

  • Confirm the correct course section is selected

  • Verify the correct marking period

  • Ensure Submit is clicked after fetching grades
