Manage Anomalous Grades in openSIS

Overview

The Anomalous Grades module helps identify and correct grading inconsistencies in assignments.

It highlights cases where:

  • Grades exceed assignment total points
  • Grades are missing or incorrectly entered

This ensures data accuracy in the gradebook and reports.


How to Access

Go to:
Grades → Anomalous Grades


What Are Anomalous Grades?

An anomalous grade occurs when:

  • A student’s score is greater than the maximum assignment points
  • A grade is missing or improperly recorded

Notes
These cases are flagged so teachers can review and correct them.


Step 1: Filter Data

Filters Available

Course Section

  • Select class/section
  • Example: English, Grade 5

Assignment Type

  • Filter by category of assignment
  • Example: Homework, Test, Quiz

Assignment

  • Select a specific assignment
  • Example: Chapter 1&2

Search Button

  • Click Search after applying filters
  • Displays relevant anomalous records

Step 2: View Anomalous Grades

Table Columns

  • Name → Student name
  • Student ID → Unique ID
  • Anomalous Grade → Issue type (e.g., Missing)
  • Assignment Type → Category
  • Assignment → Assignment name
  • Comment → Additional notes (if any)

Anomalous Grade Types

Missing

  • No grade entered for the assignment

Over Maximum (from system logic)

  • Score entered is higher than allowed points

Notes
These indicators help quickly identify grading issues


Step 3: Take Action

This screen is review-focused, not editing.

To fix issues:

  • Navigate to Gradebook / Assignment grading screen
  • Correct the grade
  • Return here to verify resolution

  • Quickly find specific students

Show Inactive Students (Toggle)

  • ON → Includes inactive students
  • OFF → Shows only active students

Export to Excel

  • Click Excel icon
  • Download anomalous grade data

Column Filter (Hamburger Icon)

  • Customize visible columns
  • Helps refine table view

Important Notes

  • This module does not change grades directly
  • It only highlights inconsistencies
  • Data depends on:
    • Assignment setup
    • Teacher-entered grades

Limitations

  • Cannot edit grades from this screen
  • Cannot create assignments
  • Cannot fix anomalies directly here
