Manage Assignments in openSIS (Teacher Portal)

Overview

The Assignments tab allows teachers to create, manage, and track assignments for a class.

Notes
Assignments created here are directly linked to the Gradebook Configuration, ensuring proper grade calculation.


How to Access

  1. Go to Courses → My Classes
  2. Select a class
  3. Click on the Assignments tab

Assignment List

The Assignments tab displays all assignments created for the class.

Each assignment includes:

  • Assignment Title
  • Assignment Type (Category)
  • Points / Score Value
  • Due Date
  • Status (Active/Inactive)

Notes
This gives a complete overview of all classwork.


Create Assignment

Click on Add Assignment to create a new assignment.

Required Details:

  • Assignment Title
  • Assignment Type (from Gradebook Configuration)
  • Points
  • Due Date

Notes
The assignment type must match the categories defined earlier.


Edit or Manage Assignments

Teachers can:

  • Edit assignment details
  • Update due dates
  • Modify points
  • Activate or deactivate assignments

⚠️ Important:

  • Assignment types come from Gradebook Configuration
  • If a category is not configured, it may not appear here

Notes
Always configure the gradebook first.

Teachers can:

  • Create assignments

  • Prepare grading structure

Restrictions

Teachers cannot:

  • Create new grading categories from this screen
  • Modify grading weights here

These must be configured in Gradebook Configuration.

  • Set due dates accurately
  • Use consistent categories
  • Avoid changing assignment types after grading begins

Assignments connect to:

  • Gradebook Configuration → Defines categories and weights
  • Grades tab → Used to enter student scores
