Understanding Student Field Types in openSIS

Overview

When creating custom student fields in openSIS, administrators must select a field type that determines how information is collected, stored, and displayed.

Choosing the correct field type helps:

  • Improve data accuracy
  • Simplify data entry
  • Standardize student records
  • Reduce user input errors

Each field type is designed for a specific kind of information.

Accessing Field Types

To view available field types:

  1. Navigate to:
    Info
Settings > Student Settings > Student Fields
  2. Select a category.
  3. Click:
    Add New Field
  4. Locate the Type dropdown.

The dropdown displays all available field types supported by openSIS.
