Understanding the Student Dashboard in openSIS

The Student Dashboard in openSIS provides a centralized view of a student’s academic, attendance, communication, and activity-related information.
The components shown on the dashboard may vary depending on school configurations, enabled modules, and academic policies (such as GPA or Graduation Progress).

This article explains each section of the dashboard and what it represents, so students clearly understand the information displayed.


1. Student Overview Header

This section appears at the top of the dashboard and provides a quick summary of the student.

Includes:

  • Student profile photo

  • Student name

  • Grade level / Class / Program

  • Enrollment status

  • Overall completion or progress indicator (if applicable)

2. Alerts & Quick Access Panel

The Alerts panel provides shortcuts to important student-related actions and notifications.

Common alert items include:

  • Messages

  • Assignments

  • Behavior

  • Fees

  • Requests

4. Academic Snapshot (Conditional Section)

This section changes based on whether the school has enabled GPA and Graduation Progress.


a) Cumulative GPA (if enabled)

When GPA is enabled by the school:

  • Displays the student’s cumulative GPA

  • Reflects overall academic performance

  • Calculated based on grading configuration and completed coursework

b) Graduation Progress (If enabled)

When graduation tracking is enabled:

  • Shows progress toward graduation requirements

  • Usually represented as a percentage or credit completion

  • Based on the academic program and credit structure

c) When GPA or Graduation Progress Is Not Enabled

If the school does not use GPA or Graduation Progress:

  • These fields display placeholders such as:

    • “No cumulative GPA found”

    • “No graduation progress found”

  • This is expected behavior and does not indicate missing data

Some schools choose not to track GPA or graduation metrics due to curriculum structure or institutional policies.

5. Today’s Classes / Course Schedule

This section lists the student’s scheduled classes for the day.

Displays:

  • Course name
