Understanding Tools & Utilities
Overview
The Tools & Utilities section in openSIS provides administrative tools for managing system-level tasks. These tools help authorized users import data, export records, perform end-of-year rollover, and review system activity.
This section is mainly used by administrators who manage school data, academic year changes, and system monitoring.

From the Tools section, users can access options such as:

| Student Data Import/Update | Add or update student records in bulk. |
| Staff Data Import | Add staff records in bulk. |
| Historical Grades Import | Import previously earned grades into openSIS. |
| Data Export | Export selected data from openSIS to Excel. |
| Rollover | Move school data from one academic year to the next. |
| System Access Log | Review user access information. |
| Activity Log | Track user activity performed inside the system. |
Steps to Access Tools & Utilities
- Log in to openSIS with an authorized user account.
- Go to the left menu.
- Click Tools.
- Select the tool or utility you want to use.
- Follow the page-specific instructions for that tool.
Important Notes
- Tools & Utilities options may vary based on user role and permissions.
- Bulk actions should be performed carefully because they can affect many records at once.
- Before importing or rolling over data, review the file format and required fields.
- Rollover should be performed only after the current academic year setup and records are reviewed.
