View Class Overview in openSIS (Teacher Portal)

Overview

The Class Overview tab provides a complete summary of a selected class, including course details, schedule, grading setup, and attendance configuration.

Notes
This is the default landing page when you open any class.


How to Access

  1. Go to Courses → My Classes
  2. Click on any class card
  3. You will land on the Overview tab

Key Information Displayed

Course Details

  • Course Section Name (e.g., Science)
  • Course Name (e.g., Course for Grade 5)
  • Subject
  • Credit Hours

Notes
Identifies the academic structure of the class.


Seats Information

  • Total seats (e.g., 20)
  • Available seats (e.g., 6 Available)

Notes
Helps track class capacity and enrollment.


Calendar & Attendance

  • Calendar Type (e.g., Default Calendar)
  • Attendance Category (e.g., Student Attendance)

Notes
Defines how attendance is recorded for the class.


Duration

  • Marking Period (e.g., Full Year)
  • Start and end dates

Notes
Shows the academic timeframe of the class.


Schedule Details

  • Schedule Type (e.g., Fixed Schedule)
  • Room Number
  • Period Timing (e.g., Period 1: 10:30–11:00 AM)
  • Meeting Days (e.g., MTWRF)

Notes
Provides full scheduling visibility.


Attendance Setting

  • Indicates whether attendance is required for the class (Yes/No)

Grade Scale

  • Example: Numeric

Notes
Defines how student performance is evaluated.


What You Can Do Here

Teachers can:

  • View complete class details
  • Understand schedule and timing
  • Check seat availability
  • Review grading and attendance setup

Teachers cannot:

  • Edit course details (view-only)

From the Overview screen, you can switch to:

  • Students → View class roster
  • Attendance → Take attendance
  • Gradebook Configuration → Set grading rules
  • Assignments → Create/manage assignments
  • Grades → Enter/view grades
  • Class Calendar → Plan lessons

This makes Overview the starting point for all class actions
