Use Class Calendar in openSIS (Lesson Planning)
Overview
The Class Calendar allows teachers to:
- View their class schedule in a calendar format
- Add lesson plans to specific dates
- Organize teaching activities across the marking period

This is where lesson plans are applied to actual teaching days.
How to Access
- Go to Courses → My Classes
- Select a class
- Click on Class Calendar
Calendar View
The calendar displays:
- Monthly view (e.g., April 2026)
- Days of the week
- Highlighted dates

Each cell represents a teaching day where lessons can be assigned.
Add Lesson Plan to Calendar
To add a lesson plan:
- Click on any date (calendar cell)
- A popup will open: “Add Lesson Plan to Calendar”
- Select lesson plan(s)
- Click Add Selected Lesson to Calendar
Lesson Plan Selection Options
Inside the popup, you will see two options:
1. Show My Plans for This Course Only
- Displays lesson plans linked to the selected course
2. Show My Plans for All Courses
- Displays lesson plans across all courses

Helps reuse lesson plans across different classes.
Search and Select
- Use Search to find lesson plans quickly
- Select one or more plans using checkboxes

Multiple lesson plans can be added to a single date.
Where Lesson Plans Come From
Lesson plans are created in:
Lesson Plan Library
They can be created by:
Lesson Plan Library (Reference)
Lesson plans include:
- Lesson Identifier
- Subject
- Course
- Unit
- Owner

Teachers can create new lesson plans from the Lesson Plan Library and reuse them in the calendar.

Important Notes
- Lesson plans must exist before adding to calendar
- Calendar does not create lesson plans — it only assigns them
- Multiple lesson plans can be assigned to a single day
Limitations
- Cannot create lesson plans directly from calendar
- Cannot modify lesson content from calendar view
- Availability depends on course access
Best Practices
- Create structured lesson plans in advance
- Use course-specific filter to avoid confusion
- Reuse lesson plans across courses when applicable
- Plan weekly or monthly for better visibility
